Horacio F. Mayer

Dr. Horacio F. Mayer is Chief of Department of Plastic Surgery at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires (affiliated to the University of Buenos Aires and Hospital Italiano University). There, he holds appointments as Director of the Plastic Surgery Residency Program and the Breast Reconstruction and Oncoplastic Fellowship Program.

He has served as a Visiting Professor for Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA, USA), Cleveland Clinic Florida (Weston, FL, USA), Duke University (Durham, NC, USA), Georgetown University (Washington DC, USA), the Campus Bio-Medico Universitá di Roma (Rome, Italia), Uppsala University (Uppsala, Sweden), Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UniRio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) University of the Republic (UDELAR, Montevideo, Uruguay) and University of Chile (Santiago de Chile, Chile).

Dr. Mayer is Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Plastic Surgery and has authored fifteen book chapters and over 75 scientific articles in a variety of distinguished plastic surgery books and journals including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS), Journal of Plastic Reconstructive
Aesthetic Surgery (JPRAS), Aesthetic Surgery Journal (ASJ), Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (APS), European Journal of Plastic Surgery (EJPS), Scandinavian Journal of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery, Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery” (JRM) and Microsurgery Journal. He also edited the book “Breast Reconstruction: Modern and Promising Surgical Techniques” contributed by world-renowned plastic surgeons and published by Springer Nature in 2022.

Dr. Mayer is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the Argentine Society of Plastic Aesthetic Reconstructive Surgery (SACPER), the Ibero-Latin American Federation of Plastic Surgery (FILACP), the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), and the Ivo Pitanguy Alumni Association (AEXPI). Currently, he is also Chairman of the Education Committee of the International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies (ICOPLAST).

He has lectured in different countries of America, Europe, Asia and Africa including the USA, the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Lebanon, Monaco, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, South Korea, Turkey, Egypt, India, United Arabic Emirates, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
